Generally, use a rectangular rug in a rectangular room; When choosing the best rug shape, measure out how much floor space there is in your room. If you have a bigger space get a rug with more of a rectangular shape.

Runner

Round

Round rugs look best in the center of a room, under a coffee table, or in a breakfast nook. Save round rugs for use in entry halls, under any circular dining tables, or even in a playroom.
